September 2022 Teacher Spotlight Kelsey Schubert
Kelsey is a born and raised Sun Valley local and proud of it! She moved back in 2019 with her husband, Charlie, and step son, Dylan, and has since welcomed two little boys, Jude and River! She found yoga originally to help with the aches and pains from a dance career, but has since turned her passion for yoga into her life's work. You can find Kelsey running around the studio as our studio manager, as well as teaching our prenatal yoga and barre classes along with
her regularly scheduled yoga classes.

Why is yoga such an important part of your life?
I would say the reason yoga is important to me shifts and changes with the season of life that I am currently living in. Right now, I am navigating mother‐ hood and so yoga creates a much needed sense of balance in my life. The stu‐ dio and my classes are where I make time for myself, to have adult conversa‐ tions, and to care for my body, mind and soul.
What was your first yoga experience like?
My mom was constantly trying to convince me to try out yoga from a very young age. But as a competitive athlete and dancer, I did not see the benefit of "just sitting and stretching". Luckily, when I moved to Denver I lived right next to a little yoga studio called Kindness Yoga. I didn't know anyone in town so I thought that might be a good place to meet some people. Before I knew it was I crying in child's pose and knew I was hooked. Six months later I was attend‐ ing my first yoga teacher training and the rest is history.
What can someone expect from one of your classes?
Over the last three years, I feel like many of us have been functioning in a in‐ credibly overstimulated nervous system. My practice and the classes that I teach have shifted from a more power vinyasa style to a much more gentle and nourishing vinyasa style. The reason I think I have made this shift is because it's what feels the most organic in my body right now. And based on feedback from my students, I think many people feel the same way. I always encourage my students to modify and challenge themselves as much as they feel will make their practice feel authentic to their own specific body and needs.
