August 2022 Newsletter - Back to School?! What?
Summer is coming to an end... finish it off with us at Gather!
We had such a wonderful July. Our workshops with Jessica Winderl were so much fun, and we look forward to welcoming her back to the studio again very soon! Coming up this month, we will be seeing some long term subs stepping in for Kelsey once her baby arrives, so make sure to attend one of her classes to say good bye and wish her luck on maternity leave. Pre-Registration Recommended!
As we are still experiencing a higher volume of people in the valley, we want to recommend continuing to pre-register for classes. This will help to make sure that your spot is reserved and give your teacher a heads up that you are on your way if you're struggling to find parking. If for some reason you can not make a class that you have signed up for, please send us an email at gatheryogastudio@gmail.com to give us a heads up!
Teachers, Don't Forget!
As the new school year approaches in the next few weeks, remember that all teachers in the Wood River Valley are eligible for our special teacher discounted pricing. You can purchase a 30 pack of classes for $399 which will be split into three monthly payments of $133. If you want to take advantage of this offer, send us an email or buy your package when you're in the studio next.

After practicing yoga for so many years, what keeps your practice fresh?
The two things that keep my yoga practice fresh are my personal home practice and continuing education. One of the upsides of the pandemic was how many educational opportunities were suddenly available online. Over the last 2 1/2 years I have attended online training in Meditation, Chanting, Vedic Astrology, Alchemy Crystal Bowls, Yoga Sutra and Sanskrit as well as asana classes with my teachers who live in Hawaii, California, NYC. I really light up when I get to study, but the thing that truly makes the study come alive and have meaning is through practice, working with the teachings in my yoga room and in my life.
Who are some of the most inspiring people you’ve met through yoga?
This is such a hard question considering that most of the people who are in my life I have met through yoga. I am incredibly inspired by my teachers as they constantly help me shed limiting beliefs and grow. I am deeply inspired by my fellow yoga teachers (my colleagues). I appreciate their commitment to, curiosity of and often surprisingly individual take on this rich, vast practice. And of course, I am always inspired by my students. Yoga asks us to experience ourselves and our lives exactly how they are. To sit with the truth within, even when it is uncomfortable. Yoga asks us to express who we truly are out into the world (which if you haven't noticed can be a little judgy). Anyone willing to do any of these things inspires me.
What is your main goal for your students after one of your classes?
The are innumerable ways that a yoga class can positively impact students so if a student feels they have received any benefit at all I say "mission accomplished". However, if I was in charge of people's experience in my class I might want them to find the pause, that place of suspension, suspension of judgement, suspension of distraction, pure presence and stillness. In yoga this place is called madhya. It is said to be an open door into the heart of the universe. I think even a moment in this place can change everything.
